Public conduct must always maintain a level of decorum, especially when standing trial before a court of law. For actress Doris Ogala, a defiant attitude and alleged courtroom obstruction resulted in her being sent back to the Ikoyi Correctional Center as her legal drama continues
On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Doris Ogala appeared before Justice Aluko at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi. She faced charges of cyberstalking and defamation of character under section 24 subsection 2 (a) brought against her by the complainer and the prosecutor, to which she pleaded not guilty
Her appearance followed a final warning from the court after she reportedly failed to honor two previous summonses, prompting the judge to mandate her production in court by her defense counsel, Marshall Abubakar
Due to her prior absences, Justice Aluko initially ordered her remand on October 28 pending an accelerated bail hearing.
Courtroom Commotion
Rather than remaining calm, the defendant began shouting, causing a commotion, and singing "Solidarity Forever" inside the courtroom, severely testing the patience of the bench
During Friday’s accelerated bail hearing (October 30), prosecutor Tolulope Mokulu and defense counsel Marshall Abubakar faced the judge
Abubakar urged the court to grant a soft landing for Ogala, maintaining her constitutional presumption of innocence and pledging via affidavit (paragraph 9.0) to personally produce her at all subsequent hearings.
Open Apology and Remand
Addressing the defense counsel, Justice Aluko highlighted Ogala's unruly behavior, noting that she could have easily received a two-month prison sentence for contempt of court. The judge noted that he expected the defense to lead with an unreserved apology, which Abubakar subsequently tendered
Standing in the witness box in a sober reflection mood, Doris Ogala knelt, openly tendered an unreserved apology to Justice Aluko, and promised to desist from unruly public behavior
Admonishing the defendant, Justice Aluko warned her to shed her ego and provocative demeanor, reminding her that she has not yet been convicted. The judge expressed shock at her conduct, noting that even governors and prominent figures standing trial maintain decorum
The Judge added that he had initially fast-tracked her bail application out of judicial leniency.
Ultimately, following the review of counter-affidavits and the open apology, Justice Aluko adjourned the bail hearing to Friday, November 6, 2026.
Ogala will remain at the Correctional facilities till November 6 2026 the date for her bail applications Date.
