The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun State Chapter, heartily congratulates the Government and the good people of Ogun State on the occasion of the State’s 50th Anniversary.
Ogun State occupies a special place in Nigeria’s historical and intellectual journey as a foremost centre of journalism, broadcasting, and media excellence. Widely acknowledged as the cradle of journalism, the State has produced generations of reporters, broadcasters, editors, publishers, and communication professionals who have shaped public discourse, strengthened democracy, and projected Nigeria’s image across the globe.
Broadcasting continues to flourish in Ogun State because of its strong academic tradition, enabling environment, and culture of professionalism. The State is home to reputable broadcast stations, dynamic newsrooms, and training platforms that nurture talents across radio, television, print, and digital media.
We proudly acknowledge the outstanding contributions of the Mass Communication Department of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta, which has over the decades produced — and continues to produce — media professionals of repute now occupying strategic positions within Nigeria’s media industry and beyond.
Ogun State’s leadership in media circles is further reinforced by its rich literary heritage, tradition of critical inquiry, and commitment to civic engagement. The State has produced national figures who championed press freedom, investigative journalism, public accountability, and ethical reporting — principles that remain central to nation-building. Its strategic location near major communication hubs, combined with its deep reservoir of intellectual capital and creative talent, has also strengthened its influence in shaping Nigeria’s media narrative.
As an association of reputable broadcast journalists dedicated to professionalism, public enlightenment, and quality content production, Ogun FIBAN is proud of the State’s towering legacy and sustained relevance in Nigeria’s communication ecosystem. We celebrate the resilience, innovation, and dedication of media practitioners from Ogun State who continue to uphold the ideals of truth, responsibility, and service to society.
We pray that the coming decades usher in greater achievements for Ogun State — stronger institutions, expanding creative industries, technological advancement, and continued leadership in media and information dissemination across Nigeria and Africa.
Happy Golden Jubilee to Ogun State.
