Youth leaders across Yewaland have been urged to take greater responsibility in driving sustainable community development, as stakeholders stress that the region’s progress largely depends on the active involvement of young people.
The call was made at a seminar titled *“Building Responsible Youth Leaders for Sustainable Community Development in Yewaland,”* held last Saturday, 24 of January 2026 at Oronna Hall, Ilaro.
The event brought together members of the Yewa Youth Council and youth leaders from various communities.
Presenting the paper, Ven. Babajide O. A. Olatubosun, Vicar of Our Saviours Anglican Church, Temidire, Ilaro, described youths as key stakeholders in present-day development, not just future leaders. He noted that unemployment, limited leadership training, and weak institutional support continue to hinder youth potential.
Ven. Olatubosun explained that sustainable development involves long-term social, economic, and environmental growth, adding that responsible youth leadership is vital to achieving these goals.
He encouraged youths to mobilize their peers, promote inclusive participation, and embrace ethical leadership, while calling for stronger support through training, mentorship, economic empowerment, and youth-friendly policies.
Oloye Adedeji ogunleye AKA Okado urges the youth to be unite for betterment of Yewa.
Adedeji says, “we need to be united If we want progress for Yewa Land”.
There are many places in these Yewa Land that did not benefits anything from government and their representatives.
Some area don’t have school and does that have school don’t have enough teacher’s.
Let cometogeder and help them and make sure those that are not going to school before are encouraged to do that by telling them the benefit of education.
Some representatives does not help the situation of things.
” If they see money they go to Abeokuta and Lagos to build there they will live there home town.” Let come together to develop our own area .
” That is why I come back to Ilaro when I see money,because I don’t want to mad mistake like some of our uncle did, they send them to school they be in good office but we don’t know their impact in the community even there children didn’t know their home town.
” I beg all of us don’t let us follow their own footsteps let come together and build our area”.
” That is why I com to Ilaro to do my business here and Sooner I will bring my children to home I want people to know them.”
Finally he thanks Yewa Youth Association President, Comrade Isikalu Olanrewaju Alamu and his EXCO for trying to make unite be among Yewa Youth.

Comrade Isikalu Olanrewaju Alamu the Yewa Youth Association President expressed profound gratitude to His Royal Majesty, Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro, Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, and Chairman of the Council of Obas in Ogun State, for his royal support, leadership, and for serving as a unifying link among the Royal Fathers across Yewaland.
