Telecoms Tariffs Increases: Tinubu Govt Is Anti-Nigerians, Satanic, Says CUPP

The recent approval of a 50 percent increase in telecommunications tariffs by the Tinubu administration has greeted with outrage and condemnation by the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

The coalition accused the government of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu of implementing policies that are detrimental to the well-being of regular Nigerians.

In a statement by Comrade Mark Adebayo, CUPP National Spokesperson, in Abuja, on Wednesday February 5, the group said the administration's decision to raise tariffs was a clear indication of its anti-people agenda, which aims to further impoverish Nigerians and exacerbate the already dire economic situation in the country.

Like all the other increases in fuel, electricity and other services, this fresh increase in phone and data services is satanically-influenced and anti-Nigerians, the CUPP submitted.

The coalition also criticized the government for prioritizing the financial sustainability of the telecoms sector over the welfare of its citizens.

In the statement by Comrade Mark Adebayo, the CUPP called on the Nigeria Labour Congress and Civil Society Organizations to continue with their planned nationwide protests against the tariff increases.

The coalition believed that the 10-member committee set up by the government to address key concerns raised by Labour was a mere distraction and a ploy to delay the implementation of the tariff hikes.

The CUPP urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and patriotic in the face of the government's anti-people policies and to prepare to vote for a new President in the upcoming elections.

The coalition vowed to continue its fight against the oppressive and harmful policies of the current administration.
